Lynn Dombek is ProPublica’s research editor. She joined ProPublica in 2020 after building and leading teams at First Look Media and The Associated Press, where she served as its research director for 10 years. Over a 30-year career, she has worked in various research roles at the national headquarters of NBC News, ABC News and Time Inc. Her team of investigative researchers, archivists, security experts and engineers at First Look Media securely managed and reported on the “Snowden Archive,” a collection of documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

At ProPublica, two of her reporters were part of the team behind the “Friends of the Court” series, which revealed how a small group of politically influential billionaires wooed justices with lavish gifts and travel; it won the Pulitzer Prize for public service in 2024, the George Polk Award for National Reporting and the Selden Ring Award for Investigative Reporting. Another of her reporters was a 2024 Pulitzer finalist in explanatory reporting for a collaboration with The Texas Tribune and Frontline on the Uvalde mass shooting, “Someone Tell Me What to Do.”
