What I Cover

I often work on projects with many sources, weaving together their individual stories to show the scale and consequences of an issue. I also aim to ensure the needs and perspectives of communities are centered in our work. I’ve covered a range of topics, including education and homelessness.

My Background

I work on national and local stories, including with our local newsroom partners. After I worked with the Idaho Statesman to crowdsource the condition of school buildings across the state, lawmakers approved $2 billion for repairs. For a series on homeless encampment sweeps, my team spoke to more than 150 people who experienced them. I’ve also contributed to projects on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, child welfare and voting rights.

Before joining ProPublica in 2022, I worked at The Seattle Times, where I helped lead coverage of the nation’s first known coronavirus outbreak and reported extensively on Title IX and sexual misconduct in higher education.

My work has received awards including the Knight Award for Public Service and the Gather Award in Community-Centered Journalism.
