Watch Live at 7:30 ET: How to Fight Back if Your Rent is Illegally High

Tonight at 7:30 ProPublica, in partnership with the Brooklyn Public Library, is co-hosting a forum on what New Yorkers can do to fight back against unfair rent hikes and unlawfully high rent rates. Based on ProPublica’s investigation into New York City’s broken rent stabilization system, the event will feature tenants who learned their rights and successfully challenged their landlords.

This event will be webcast live today, here, starting at 7:30 pm ET.

The discussion will cover: how to find out if you are being illegally overcharged for rent, ways to learn your apartment’s rent history, when to file a complaint, pro bono legal resources you can tap, how to organize your building, and other practical action steps.
