ProPublica announced the hiring of Shoshana Gordon as a visuals editor. In this role, she will work closely with the art director and the rest of the visuals team to find compassionate, incisive and original approaches to story presentation, particularly with external partners on various projects through ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network. Gordon is an alumnus of ProPublica, having worked with its newsroom as a visuals editor and story production fellow from 2019 to 2021.
Before joining ProPublica, Gordon worked at Axios as a visual journalist. Gordon is an award-winning art director, photo editor and illustrator, specializing in project management and visual storytelling for newsrooms and nonprofits. Her work has been recognized by the Society for News Design and American Illustration, and has been featured by “Marketplace” on NPR.
“We are delighted to welcome Shoshana back to ProPublica,” said Lisa Larson-Walker, art director. “Her immense creativity, thoughtful project management and rigorous optimism are a huge benefit to the visual storytelling team and the newsroom at large.”
“I’m thrilled to be returning to ProPublica’s newsroom and the Local Reporting Network,” Gordon said. "I’m honored to get the chance to collaborate every day with smart, dedicated colleagues on stories that have real-world impact.”
