The Livingston Awards for Young Journalists and the University of Michigan announced today that ProPublica’s Megan McCloskey is a finalist for its national reporting award.
McCloskey’s project, “Failing the Fallen,” examined the Pentagon's failing efforts to quickly recover and ID those missing in action from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
ProPublica’s Ryan Gabrielson is also a finalist for “Hired Guns,” reported for The Center for Investigative Reporting, which showed how America's armed security guard industry suffers from poor oversight and a lack of proper training.
Winners of the Livingstons, which honor the work of reporters younger than age 35, will be announced on June 1 in New York City. Congratulations to all.
