ProPublica is seeking an experienced, self-motivated and well-organized professional to join the New York headquarters as the development manager. The manager will report to the director of development and work in close partnership with the development team, gaining valuable database and development operations experience. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the Salesforce database, streamlining how gifts are solicited, processed, acknowledged and tracked. This is a great opportunity for individuals with some database experience to improve and expand their skills and learn more about fundraising.
Responsibilities include:
Manage Salesforce database, including data entry, gift acknowledgement and report development
Work closely with director of development to maximize integration with Apsona, Pardot and Click & Pledge. Experience with those tools is not required, but some familiarity with electronic communications tools is a plus.
Develop and maintain a suite of revenue and donor management reports
Produce lists for marketing and fundraising activities
Assist development staff with both digital and print mailings
Enter donations and draft acknowledgment letters in partnership with development staff
Provide frontline customer service for donors, fielding phone and email queries
Provide general administrative support to the development staff, as needed
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is required to have at minimum a bachelor’s degree, strong Salesforce database experience, understanding of fundraising basics and solid communication skills. The ability to take initiative, coordinate with others and follow through in a dynamic and highly confidential environment is a must. Excellent organizational ability demonstrated in meeting deadlines, setting priorities, maintaining accuracy in details and working in cooperative but self-directed manner are also critical. A demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications is essential.
