Since we launched a little more than two years ago as ProPublica’s first regional newsroom, ProPublica Illinois has produced investigative journalism that has helped erase millions of dollars in debt, oust government officials, change state policy and free people from prison. Our stories have ranged from multipart examinations of the impact of video gambling across the state to a first-person essay about the lingering effects of racism in a small town. We’ve even done a little theater.
Now we’re expanding and we’re looking for an ambitious, talented and collegial investigative reporter to join our team.
Ideally, you’ll have three-plus years of newsroom experience, with a track record of reporting ambitious stories that create change. But many of our reporters were not previously “investigative reporters,” and you don’t need to be either. What all of us at ProPublica have in common is a dedication to digging for the truth. So, if this sounds like your dream job, we want you to apply.
