ProPublica announced this week that Sarah Glen has joined its staff as a newsletter product manager. In this newly created position, she will work closely across the audience, product and development teams to help accelerate the organization’s newsletter efforts.
Previously, Sarah worked as the product director at Scalawag, where she focused on community building and product strategy. Before that, she managed the membership and newsletters programs at The Texas Tribune. She also worked at Chalkbeat as a product manager and started her career as a writer and producer at Digital First Media.
Sarah is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and now lives in Austin, Texas.
“Email is one of the most durable and dynamic ways for us to deliver our journalism, tell our story and build relationships with readers,” said Tyson Evans, chief product and brand officer. “More than half a million readers already invite us into their inboxes, and we expect there are many more we could be reaching. We want to keep investing and growing our ambitions, and Sarah will be an excellent steward of this work given her previous experience.”
“At a time when social media platforms are deprioritizing journalism, the importance of owned channels like newsletters can’t be understated,” said Sarah. “I’m thrilled to be joining the ProPublica team and look forward to building out an email program that helps ensure our rigorous accountability journalism is accessible to all who wish to read it.”
