The Global Editors Network today announced that four ProPublica projects and reporters are finalists for the Data Journalism Awards, an international competition recognizing outstanding work in the field of data journalism. This year’s shortlist was narrowed from 573 projects submitted from 51 countries.
In the Best Individual Portfolio category, ProPublica news applications developers Lena Groeger and Derek Willis are finalists. (ProPublica’s Sisi Wei won this award in last year’s contest.)
Electionland, a national reporting initiative that tracked voter experiences in real time, across thousands of polling sites, is a finalist for News Data App of the Year. The ProPublica Data Store, a clearinghouse for the data behind many of ProPublica’s investigations, is a finalist for the Open Data category.
Winners will be announced in June. For the full list of Data Journalism Award finalists, click here.
