ProPublica won five awards tonight at the 2014 Online News Association Conference and Awards Banquet in Chicago, most prominently the General Excellence in Online Journalism Award for its website. Tonight marks the third time in ProPublica's six years that it has received the general excellence award.
Segregation Now, a deep look at the resegregation of American schools that was a finalist in four categories, won in the Feature category and tied for the Explanatory Reporting Award.
Overdose, an investigation into the dangers of acetaminophen, won the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award, while ProPublica's package of health care coverage received the Topical Reporting Award.
In all, ProPublica was named a finalist for 13 awards.
