ProPublica’s Abrahm Lustgarten was a guest on High Country Views last week to discuss the story of Louis Meeks, a Wyoming farmer who suspected that natural gas drilling was to blame for his well water pollution and battled energy companies so that they would take responsibility.
Although a direct causal relationship between fracking and water contamination has not been proven, a recent peer-reviewed study from Duke University has linked the two for the first time. Lustgarten talks about this new research as well as his earlier Bloggingheads interview with Andrew Revkin where the two debated whether the oil and gas industry can be trusted to use drilling best practices to safeguard public health.
