3 ProPublicans Among SABEW Finalists

Recognition of reporting on Wall Street, the burden of consumer debt and questionable royalty payment practices of a leading oil and gas company.

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers announced today that three of ProPublica’s reporters had been chosen as finalists in its “Best in Business” competition.

Jesse Eisinger was named the sole finalist in the Division 1 digital commentary category for smaller outlets for his coverage of Wall Street in “The Trade,” a biweekly column also published in The New York Times.

Unforgiven,” a series on the burden of consumer debt by ProPublica’s Paul Kiel and NPR’s Chris Arnold, is a finalist in the digital investigative category.

Abrahm Lustgarten was named a finalist in the energy category for his reporting on the royalty payment practices of a leading oil and gas company.

Winners will be announced at SABEW’s conference in April. Congratulations to all the finalists.
