As part of our investigation into the federally financed workers' compensation program that provides medical insurance to injured war contractors, here's a look at the numbers of civilian contractors by state who were injured or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The darker the red, the more contractors per capita came from that state. Washington, D.C., has had almost 27 contractors for every 100,000 people injured or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan while Texas has had almost 22 contractors injured or killed for every 100,000 people. Vermont is the only state that has not had a contractor injured or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
